CommSys app for iPhone and iPad

CommSys is an AR poetry experience developed by Cole and Samuel Hardman. Using their book, Communication Systems, as a key, viewers can interact with a new form of art: poetry as a stochastic process. As four robots reading polyvocal poetry dance in random paths across the virtual space above the book, what the viewer hears is dependent on their own location in the virtual scene. The random aspects of this experience mean that each reading is unique to a particular viewer and moment in time. This individualized, randomized art opens the door to a whole new world of poetic form, and viewers who are less familiar with poetry can still enjoy the experience thanks to the simple interface.
